Best pads for my purpose, the way I use them.
Yes, these pads are smaller and thinner than the Depends.
But, with any of the pants or liners, you still have some leakage.
And, as a man, normal pants or liners don’t stop you from “spraying”, when you finally do get to the bathroom.
    I don’t use them as a liner.
With normal black electrical tape, I create a “sock” or “pocket” with them.
The Depends brand, and all of the other “generic” brands that I’ve tried, have a “slick” inner finish, and they ALL slip, slide and need adjusting periodically. (More often than not)
These Equate brand “Assurance” pads are the perfect size to create the “sock” with, and the inner material does NOT slip or slide.
With a little bit of “stretchy” rubber electrical tape, these are actually staying in place.
This is the first product of its type in my 3 years of doing this, that actually stays in place.
Please, DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING ABOUT THESE PADS.
For the first time in 3 years, I can finally move. I can finally walk, bend, and work around the house, without adjusting myself every 5 minutes!
If you want to continue to use pads and pants, I guess they’re all about the same.
But, if you use these pads the way I do, these are the best option of everything that I’ve tried.

I’m soooo glad I ‘discovered’ this brand!
I have had incontinence for a number of years. I had been using several different brands over the years, such as Depends, and store brands from Rite-Aid, Walgreens and CVS. They ALL leaked when ALMOST full or when I sat down when almost full. Very embarrassing. I purchased these at Wal-Mart on a whim and by the time that I went through a half-dozen pads, I was sold! These do not start leaking when they get to that point. They only start to leak when they are super saturated. I LOVE these pads and feel so much more secure when wearing this brand….and they are less expensive to boot!

    Grateful

    These leak-resistant pads really work!
For years I’ve used Depends Guards, but while traveling recently I couldn’t find them in the store, so I bought the new Assurance Guards. My rating above is still preliminary, since I’ve only gone through half a package, but I really like them so far. When they get full, they hold the fluid well. My biggest problem with Depends is that, when they get full and I don’t realize it and then make the mistake of sitting down somewhere, the liquid squishes out and wets my pants, embarrassing and VERY annoying. So far I’ve found that this hasn’t happened yet with the Assurance product. Now I have a problem: I’m home now and have a stockpile of Depends left and I guess I should use them up, but I would rather use the Assurance pads and then buy more!

    New & Improved version Pros/Cons
I have mixed feelings about the “New & Improved” version of the Guard pads.
    Pros:
    1) The addition of leak barriers on each side of the pad really seem to work to keep liquid on the pad, I think this a great improvement.
    2) The new perforated inner sheet seems to improve the rate at which it absorbs.

    Cons:
    1) It is a bit smaller and seems to have a somewhat smaller capacity.
    2) When the capacity is reached the pad seems to swell up more than in the past and has a tendency to split open. When this happens the sticky Super Absorbing Polymer (SAP) particles inside the pad can get out onto the user.
    3) The adhesive strip doesn’t hold on as well as before.

All in all I think that the new pads are still a bit better than the competitors, even though I find I have to change them a bit more often. Instead of 2 or 3 pads a day I now have to use 3 or 4.

    Not happy
Please go back to the old dark grey version. this new and improved version is the worst yet. The glue won’t stay stuck, the pad is to short, the pad comes apart at the bottom letting little balls of cotton fall out of my pant leg. I have been using this product since 2011, but will be forced to change to another brand.

    New supplier Bad product
I have been using Assurance Max. Guards for some time now and really like their performance how ever it seems that they found another supplier whom down graded the product all I can say is terrible .Before I could go a whole day with out showing a wetting well now it will not hold up for even a single spurt and it is very embarrassing.

    Smaller by 12%
The latest and last bag of the Assurance Men’s pads were noticeably smaller that previous pads. The old pads were approximately 3.6 inches long, the new ones 3.35 inches long. The previous pads weigh approximately 30 grams and the new ones weigh 25 grams. The width and thickness were smaller, but too difficult to get accurate measurements.
Easy math shows that the new pads weigh 12% less and are about 10% smaller.
    Still the same price.
I just went to Costco online with free shipping for Depends.

    Frustrated

Bring back the previous version please
These are terrible. They are smaller, thinner, and less absorbent than the version you just replaced with this “New and Improved” version. Cheaper made for sure, but not improved. They also do not stick to undergarments as well as the old one. It is bad enough to have to use these things, but now you have made it even less tolerable. Please bring back what you had or I will be forced to look for something else. There are lots of similar reviews that can be found online, but not sure why they do not show up here. Many people feel the same way as I do.

New Guards are Poor Quality and Shorter
The New Men’s Assurance Guards with Dual Leak Barriers are not made as well as previous versions. Each new version is shorter and not as wide as the previous one. The original Gray version was the best, although the Light Gray version was acceptable. Both Gray and Light Gray versions were much more durable than the newest Dual Leak Barrier model. The Dual Leak Barrier model falls apart when it is removed. Please go back to a previous version.

    Sudden downturn
In the past, I have not had trouble with this brand, but lately they seem thinner, do not protect against odors, and the adhesive no longer holds. I am not sure if this is a ‘bad batch’ or their quality has diminished. I cannot recommend them currently.
