These little gadgets are super sharp and make easy work of sharpening all sorts of pencils, from hard graphite to soft waxy makeup pencils. It even quickly sharpens new, blunt-end pencils.
There is a lever on it to switch between a blunt or sharp tip. The blunt tip setting basically just blocks the sharpener tip so the pencil can’t get that far in. The blunt setting works wonderful for makeup pencils. Like all sharpeners, it can break waxy tips off while sharpening, but the blunt setting helps mitigate that.
Typical width pencils fit in the sharpener with no play, so they sharpen pretty evenly around. The somewhat rounded shape makes it easy to spin too.
It’s nice to have some shaving storage built in. The cleanout door has a small flange that is a bit tough to get a hold of with adult fingers, but kids should find it easy. If you do break a tip in the sharpener, it’s difficult to get in there to clean out because the blade is not facing out. It’s facing the side. Good for safety though.
I think these are very handy to have and very good quality!

Sharpens color pencils well. Nice color choices. Sometimes the internal cutter shifts inside. There’s a little adjustment knob on the outside for sharpness, but I have yet to try it out.
